Hi Mandy, First off, well done for posting here. Can you provide a SOA (list of outgoings/income) Then we can take a look and see where you can save money. Secondly, what kind of debt do you have, loans/cc's? I know it's a worry bot you really are in the best place for help and the ppl here are very supportive http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/forum_style_1/icons/icon10.gif

    Hi mandy and welcome

Even if you cannot go down the route of a DRO there are still other options you can consider. Who were you talking to about the DRO? If you haven't yet it would be worth talking to one of the debt charities - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2077631

And as Fitzer says if you post up a statement of affairs using this link http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html then people may be able to suggest alternative options for you, or suggest ways you can reduce some of your outgoing costs so you have a bit more money to live on.

So that £383 per month coming in - what is this? is it benefits? are you getting all you are entitled to?

And you have listed £173 going out.
But you need to budget for groceries, bike maintenance etc, i think haircuts & clothes would be allowed. Sky would be excluded. Do you not pay council tax or rent?

How soon do you expect the issue with your husbands house to be sorted? after that you might well qualify for a DRO but you would need to speak to someone who knows exactly what allowances are acceptable.

In the meantime are you at least making token payments?

Who advised that a DMP wasn't a good idea? who was your DMP with? a charity or a company?

    hi tixy
i get income support,im not entitled to anything else.
i get housing benefit and council tax benefit.
i also have mobile phone that i forgot to put.
i only have my internet and tv as i have depression and anxiety and panic attacks. these help me cope.
i have spoken to national debt line, cccs, debt free direct to name a few.
i had a dmp,fee paying one but national debt line have said i dont fit the criteria for a free one for example, because im not allowing myself enough to live on.
the property that i shared with my husband has no equity but iam going through divorce now.
i have found help through community legal services. i basically have 2 choices. bankcrupcy if i can somehow find the fee. and also keep my bike which helps me get out. or tell my creditors i have no money and wait for the outcome, they could have a £1 a month.

aww thanks for the reply, thought maybe i done something wrong:cry:
    i have 23 creditors(sounds awful)
all un secured and non priority. i rang everyone i could find, which exactly worked out worse. consumer legal services and national debt line were the most helpful to me.
basically it looks like ive two options left, bankrupcy or telling creditors i dont have any money. did the dmp for 9 months but was advised it was doing me no good and i needed money for my living too.

    Hi Mandy
Have you spoken to the CAB? They have debt advisors who would be able to have a proper look at your situation and give you some advice. How much exactly do you owe? If it's to 23 creditors, are some of the debts quite small? If you could post a full picture, I'm sure someone will be able to help you.
Try not to worry, there's very little that can't be sorted out.
Say what you mean.. mean what you say... without being mean.
  • Hi mandy, 23 is ok i had around 19 at my highest :D we live and learn, have you written letters to offer token payments, can you post an soa ?? :D x
