HELP!!!
IT IS MY FIRST THREAD SO FORGIVE ME YOU ALL OUT THERE IF I AM NOT DOING CORRECTLY, OR IF THIS THREAD ALREADY EXISTS, BUT I AM REALLY DESPERATE!
First, I want to switch my credit card but every time I apply for one I am refused as my credit score is very bad. I do not have CCJ but have only one default, plenty of arrears and miss payments, plus voluntary arrangements. My credit card is Capital One and I only have £600 credit (well, debit to be precise) but the interest rate I pay without even using my card and just doing the minimum payment is astronomic! HELP ON THIS, PLEASE.
Secondly, I also want to switch my account from Halifax to another one that will stop stealing my money only in charges of DD unpaid and overdraft interests. I asked refund of these as read in Martin's newsletter, they did refund me but not all of them. They send me a nasty letter, I think, saying that if I request refunds of these again, they will close my account, but I am determined to write to them again asking them again, as last time a standing order not paid for £5 costed me £30!
I would be very grateful if any of you would reply to me, well, at your own time but before the end of this year!
Thanks
Elena

If you have recent defaults and are currently in arrears then the simple answer is that you will not obtain a standard current account or credit card.
even the "sub-prime" credit cards require all payments on time for the last 12 months ( even if other defaults are still present) , and the high street banks will not entertain anyone with defaults in the last 6 years.
Some banks like Natwest will issue a "basic" account with a solo card, and may look to upgrade it after 6-12 months to a full account. It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
When I started out with my Trust Deed I was advised to change my bank account as I owed money to Lloyds TSB who I was with.
I now have a Natwest Step Account and can reccomend it, no frills just a basic current account with a solo card, no cheque book and no overdraft it does however have Direct Debit and Standing Order facilities and online banking.
Hope this is of some help.DFW Nerd no. 177
