  • Thanks I've used insurance4carhire - they're good I was just trying to save money really.

I wouldn't hire a car again without having the xs/exclusions covered after driving a hire car in France and having the windscreen broken by a lorry throwing up a stone. The bill would have been considerably more than the cost of insurance4carhire's policy cost! :(

    Why do insurance4carhire say

'Not valid to (rent a vehicle) within 150km of usual residence'?

Where do you want to hire? In Spain, most suppliers do cover for €10-15 per hire for wheels, tyres and glass. And there's not usually any basic excess.
  • Not 100% sure where we're going yet - probably mallorca or cyprus or crete. Trouble is I don't want to get to the hire window and find they don't offer cover - or I can't understand whats being offered!

thing to do would be take your insurance4car hire policy out as close to to the date you go ( you take out a policy 3 months before start date) then try to next your next holiday within the 12 months thus getting two holidays on the policy.

  • I'd thought of that but I'm not sure it makes economic sense to say i have to go on holiday abroad next year to use my car-hire cover! ;):D
