Cheap vitamins and with free delivery -Rosemarys health foods

Just wanted to give a testimonial about -Rosemarys health foods

They have all the good stuff (research on tesco vitamins shows they are not worth anything) and free delivery also

I have no affiliation with them but just thought I'd tell all the MSE's

I'd be interested if you could provide any links to this research. While I'm not an advocate for Tesco's vitamins I would be interested in seeing any independent research that proved low cost vitamins were actually inferior to the overpriced, overhyped stuff a lot of health shops sell.

If a product has a specified amount of an active ingredient then it is difficult to justify paying more for one source of that ingredient than another. Clearly those with access to laboratory analysis may be able to detect difference in the amounts of active ingredient stated on the label and that available in the tablet, if this is the case then Trading Standards need to be informed.

A link please? I can't find anything. Sounds a bit of a libelous statement.

I shall investigate further - mentioning tesco was unfair of me and it should have simply read 'cheap' . As far as I know you have to be very wary when buying cheap vits - especially with Vit E as synthetic Vit E is absolutely useless..
off a quick search check out
    http://www.rense.com/general71/ccie.htm

    and

    http://www.primalwellness.com/articles/discountsupplements.htm

Quoting from that site .. "For example, most beta carotene used in supplements is synthetic and contains only about 3% beta carotene that costs about $60 per kg. However, a much more effective higher potency natural 98% beta carotene costs about $2,800 per kg. The more effective natural form of Vitamin E d-alpha tocopheryl succinate costs more than the synthetic version called dl-alpha tocopheryl.."

Also some products like the value zinc offer just 5mg of Zinc and this is nor hear nor there in my opinion. Solgar for instance offer more in the line of 50mg per tablet..

    and here

  • I agree that you do as a consumer have to do some research so that you know what you are buying and whether that form of that supplement is going to perform the function you require of it and is exactly the same form as is supplied by the cheaper company.

But I don't agree, and none of the hype you have provided links to, provides any firm evidence that simply because you pay less for your

Glucosamine Sulphate 1000mg from Simply Supplements 360 £8.89 total
    rather than
    SOLGAR Glucosamine Sulfate 1000mg 60.tablets£12.71 OR 6 X £10.86 =£65.16 Rosemary's

That the Glucosamine Sulphate at £65. from Rosemary's is different in it's chemical nature or it's effect on your knee joints, than the Glucosamine Sulphate from Simply Supplements or Zipvit or other online discount provider. Only when you provide proper research, conducted by independent labs will I believe you, until you do it's my opinion you're being ripped off by fancy labels and knocking copy.

I think those who get results from the cheap version would gain nothing more by spending an extra £57 or more for the same number of the same strength tablets. I suspect that those who swear by the Solgar version would have exactly the same results if someone sneaked the Simply Supplements tablets into the Solgar bottle or they took them with their eyes closed.

Well of course it is the age old placebo test, and you are right no one can provide conclusive proof its all the same as buying value rice crispies. Cheap and nasty and who knows what the long term effects are?

That is a totally unwarrented slur and you should have the sense to know it. It's about time you got it into your head that a chemical is a chemical and just that. To say that ascorbic acid of a particular strength is different when obtained at the same strength from a different supplier simply because it's sold at a different price is total rubbish and you know it.

If I pick apples from the same tree and supply them to 3 different shops then they will be sold at the 3 different prices but the actual apples will have exactly the same nutritional value. The linseed that I buy from my neighbouring farmer is the same quality as supplied to the health food shop suppliers. I pay 16p a kilo. You buy the same linseed at a totally different price but it is EXACTLY the same linseed. The difference is PROFIT.

If the item is exactly the same quality and strength then you need to prove that any difference in price is justified. You have simply resorted to slur and insult.

Unwarrented slur and the sense to know it - you dont even know me? What a load of crap you are selling!?

Profit - lets talk about that - is it not a known fact that using sub standard ingredients will induce a higher profit in the long run?

And comparing apples with chemicals you regularly feed yourself is like comparing said apples to pears.

You can feel pretty comfortable buying your value products but I would like to have the piece of mind of knowing the brand and the company.

Maybe its me being naive but thats fine having worked in a carrot factory not so long ago as a sabbatical, it was weird how the zoo got their carrots before Tesco value had theirs. Marks and Spencer having the best pick.

Oh and I suppose eating turkey fed by a battery of pipes and hormones is exactly the same as eating a M+S turkey that is free range fed on whole grains and killed in a humane manner..

Actualy cheaper supplements also have another difference – the minerals are not chelated. This means acceptable and digestible to the body rather then the body having to deal with the process of chelation itself. If your body is not 100%, it may not perform this task efficiently and therefore the supplement goes to waste. You may be saving money but then it is like buying something in a sale because it is cheap but that you will never use, therefore it is just a waste of money.
