hi all
i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this,,
my father found a bank book which belongs to him which has £34.00 dating back to 1978,he never closed the account ,on thursday he went to his local hsbc and tried to undate the book but they said they have no record of it,does anyone know what he can do now?

It is what is classed by banks as a "dormont account." He should go back to the bank and talk to manager/assistant manager and explain the situation. I'm sure they will be able to sort it out, although it may need referring to the bank's head office so that the interest can be calculated.0
