Hotel In Dublin

Hi all

I am taking my 11yr old daughter to see Bruce Springtseen in Dublin on 19th November and need an hotel at a reasonable price near to the Point theatre. I have googled this but I am not sure of a couple of things..

1) How to get the best deal when booking an Hotel - online, direct with Hotel, etc.

2) The proximity of hotels to the Point. As it wil be late when the concert ends I dont want to have to walk too far.

Hope this is the correct section and appreciate any help offered.

Cheers
ps- I would recommend anyone seeing Broooooce.....may not be a money saving tip, but its the best tip I will ever give ;-)

    Thanks

never thought of trying them. Got the concert tickets from them. Know any good hotels near the point?

    cheers
  • I dunno how soon you want to book, but i'm going to Dublin on Friday so i'll find out if I can.

If I remember correctly, The Point is a fair way up over on the dockside, near that way I think. Memory is a bit fuzzy as I don't venture up that side of town that often.

I don't stay in hotels in Dublin as we stay at my GF's or our friends places or else we're off elsewhere round Ireland. So sorry i'm not that clued on Dublin hotels as such.

Friends of mine have used hotels in Dublin, I believe they said Gardener Street (sic?) is a great place for hotels and one they stayed in there came highly recommended and at a great price (which is a surprise really as you probably know Dublin is very expensive).

Jurys Inn Custom House is located 500m from the Point on the right hand side overlooking the River Liffey

    https://www.jurys.com €140 .... maybe a bit expensive?

Days Inn Talbot Street is further (20 mins walk) but cheaper €65 from https://www.daysinn.com

Thanks for the tips folks. I will look into these. Days inn sounds good. 20 mins walk is no too bad. I'd walk miles but no with my daughter late at night in a city I dont know....

    Cheers all

€65 for a room is pretty decent after you discover a pint of lager is about €5.

Sounds like you found a bargain there. :)

hi you said 5 euro a pint ,dj here in Belfast said he paid 25 euro for 4 pints last week ,will put me of go to Dublin now ,cheaper if you get one of those cheap flights to spain, than spend a weekend in Dublin.
  • Dublin is indeed super pricey, but mainly in the City centre. Further out you go the cheaper it is.

I was in Tramore about 3 weeks ago and it was about €3 a pint there. BARGAIN! :D

Depends if you want a B&B or a hotel .
    I would try www.dublintourist.com
    www.cnghotels.com
    www.dublintourism.com
    www.comfortinns.ie
The Gardiner Street /Talbot street area ( city centre) has loads of B&B's
I have stayed in hazelbrook house in Gardiner street .
One thing, I always do is ask for a room at the back in Gardiner street As there is a lot of trafic .
I am just back for Dublin and stayed in the new comfort inn at smithfield . it's about 4 stops from the city centre on the Luas (tram) .
Bewleys also have rooms in Ballsbridge ( a couple of stops on the train )for 99
euro .I have found ticketmaster dont have any bargains when looking for hotels .It may say 50% off but I dont think it ever was 50% more expensive .

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I'll add https://www.irelandhotels.com to the list above. Unless you get a hotel out by the Point (such as the Jurys Custom House recommended above) try to stay south of the river. In fact, in everything you do in Dublin try to stay south of the river.
