Can br move to oz?

I was declared bankrupt in August 09 and looking forward to being discharged this August, My husband now has huge debts thanks to a house repossesion - does anyone know if you are looking to emigrate to Oz does being a bankrupt effect your chances of getting in?

Not that were in any position to go anytime soon but it is our dream and what keeps us going through these awful times! ANY advice would be hugely appreciated to give us a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel!

Now I'm no expert for sure so you'll need to check it out, but we have been through the migration process for Oz and I'm sure they only asked about monies owed to Australian government, nothing at all about UK debts/bankruptcy. All the information is on the website www.immi.gov.au.

I lived in Australia for a while (many moons ago) as been advised you do need to check with the embassy but if you are moving to Oz they do hae fairly strict guidelines and you have to be able to offer something like a trade for example and also have to prove you have enough money to be self sufficient.
