Warden watched me make mistake and ticketed when I left

Hello everyone,
I haven't quite found this situation elsewhere so I hope someone can advise.
I parked in Kensington & Chelsea for the first time and mistakenly parked in residents' parking instead of the public bay, although I bought a ticket. The problem is that the warden actually stood there doing nothing but watching me buy the ticket and put it on my dashboard perhaps 10-15 feet away from him. He waited until I walked away, then ticketed me. Talk about galling!
I wrote to the council with my first (informal) appeal and was rejected; they say 'there is no record that the driver of the vehicle was seen at the time that the PCN was issued' (of course, why would he admit it?) and that 'there is no obligation for a Civil Enforcement Officer to inform a motorist where they can park' (although I would argue that, theoretically, he is there to ensure that I adhere to the law, and this does not preclude advising me if I am in violation of it).
Has anyone else successfully appealed such a circumstance? Or have any advice on proceeding vs giving up and paying?
Many thanks!

The council are right - there is no obligation for the CEO to advise that you were parking in the wrong place."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

No, but a normal human being would tip you the wink. Thats blatent money grabbing and its a shame its legal.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

They saw you coming a mile away. Sorry for the pun.
They have targets to meet and saw you parking your car.
What went through his mind was what an easy ticket.
You would think that they would tell you you cant park there.I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

Best advice is to post about it on pepipoo.com here:

They will need to see both sides of the PCN (all wording except ID details) plus if possible, pics of the lines & signs at that parking bay. There may well be a get out for you, worth a try!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of this/any page where it says:

They seem to have forgotten that the aim of restriction lines was to aid traffic flow at busy and (and other) times of the day. Their only aim now is to make money, this is probably not helped by governments saying ""we'll have to cut you budget this year but by the way you have to do X,Y,Z extra but no more money available, sorry(snigger, snigger)""I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
