Help re sponsorship

Hi all,

I'm secretary for a womens football team here in Nottingham and we're looking for sponsorship for the forthcoming season. I've planning on writing to a few companies but have no idea what to write/what to proposition etc. Has anyone any experience of searching for sponsorship or can anyone give me any pointers on what to write ?

tricky one this josie i used to run a mens football team myself and struggled to get anything other than local pubs etc for meagre sponsorship, suppose if you wrote to local companies telling them you played in hotpants and sports bra's you'd be inundated with offers ..... in fact i'll sponsor you myself!!!!
no seriously just write to them telling them wat you've told us that your looking for sponsorship for your team, leave them a contact number/ email address and wait for them to get back to you,........ if you buy enough tickets to the raffle you'll win a prize !!!

Hi Josie,
Did a quick search on Google and came up with some interesting links which include sample letters that you can use and modify according to your specific needs. Remember, the more genuine it sounds the more chance of securing the deal.

Thanks for that Pitdog, hotpants and sports bra's now theres an idea.... in fact we might just turn out in hotpants and leave the bra's at home surely someone will want to sponsor that (unfortunately only x-rated websites I fear!!).

Thanks for that link Shilling, there's some useful info on there. I have ideas of some companies to approach but I'm not sure of the format the letter should be in, but I'm sure i can pick up some tips from youe links.

Some success, although the first company I contacted couldn't offer sponsorship however they have kindly offered the team discount on any sports bra's we buy! Now thats the kinda support a girl needs.

Have you tried to contact Hooters? the only Hooters in the country is in Nottingham maybe they would be interested in a sponsorship deal? I know I would go watch a bunch of woment in hooters uniforms

I think you need to do somthing to build the interes in womens football before you attract the big sponsorship deals from huge companies, Arsenal ladies and the international side will help and have helps make it known that womens football exists but the lesser known teams still only attract crowds of freinds and families and the people that will go watch any football being played.

Good luck in your quest, as for wat to put in your contact letters tell them about the team, what you are looking for dont just say sponsorship actually talk numbers and tell them what they will receive for their sponsorship names on shirts, in programs everything but dont forget you need to be getting the crowds in so people will see the advertiseing.
