My DD is going to study in the usa for 4 years and we want to transfer money out there occasionally what is the cheapest way of doing this.

As mentioned on lots of other threads, get her to open a Nationwide account with debit card. You can then put money in the account here for no charge (in branch or on Internet) and she can withdraw it from an ATM in the USA without charges.0
