Jsa and working part time

Now I am confused. I am currently in receipt of cont based JSA. I was told that I can work up to 15 hours and still be in receipt of benefit. I was in the job centre yesterday and everything was fine. Yet today i get a letter saying that my benefit was stopped for week when I worked 6 hours. In that week I earnt £40 and my JSA per week is about £65. Surely this cannot be right. If so why would you bother taking any temp work it doesnt encourage people to work.

I am looking for perm work so before the comments come in I am not skiving and have been for 2 second interviews and they are looking promising.

I phoned the 0845 job centre number and still do not understand what is happening. I am not a stupid person so why is it so confusing.

thanks:mad:

JSA claims are a nightmare if you're doing anything other sitting at home applying for jobs. I had my claim stopped because I was volunteering once!

When's your next appointment with your advisor at the jobcentre? If they know you're genuine and wanting to work they will probably be willing and able to sort it out for you, mine were.

I am genuine and I feel that even though I have been in full time work for over 15 years and now I am out of work I am just as bad as the rest. I more than understand that after 26 weeks my cont based JSA stops that is fine. Its the time between now and then. I am stuck in the middle. I left my full time job that was giving me mild stress so that I could ACTIVELY seek work which I would have found this impossible whilst in my last job. I thought that taking the odd bit of temp work would help me a bit to show my future employers that I was still willing to work but still available at short notice for interviews. WRONG it seems as the job centre is not helping me with this.
When I go to sign on they seem fine and happy with everyting I am doing and I had my 13 week review last week and that was all fine, yet somewhere in this office other decisions are being made and they dont discuss this with me face to face. They send out automated letters that dont explain things properly.

who should I vote for to sort this CRAP employment service out. There are so many others who obviously have no intention of ever working. Sort them out first and help the genuine ones to do what they need to do.

I only signed on yesterday so its a week on tuesday when I am next in the job centre. I could call in and see if there is any appointments before then.

thanks for your reply, i think i will avoid temping and still to my frugal gardening hobby instead i am much happier outdoors than on my computer.

not an expert on this, but last year my son was on contribution jsa he works 7 hours a week, they took this amount off his jsa but he got the rest to make it up to full amount of jsa, he is single and lives at home, if op has rent ect to pay the situation may be different, good luck
