We're looking for a stopover for a week on the return trip from NZ (next May) somewhere quiet and relaxed and not too touristy. We've discounted Fiji.
Any reccomendations ?

Air NZ allow a variety of pacific stopovers for a little bit extra. these include Cook Islands, Tahiti and Western Samoa. We are doing Fiji, may i ask why you have discounted it?we have love enough to light the streets.0

My sis has just done Fiji and she loved it though it was popular as its cheap when you get there, i am going to the Cook Islands and fiji as i could not afford to spend long in tahiti which is what i would want to do..
If i were you go to Western Samoa or Tahiti though note Tahiti is not cheap!0 -
I did Raratonga and Fiji going out and Hawaii and LA on the way back. All completetely different. Ok in order of prefernce;
1) Raratonga
2) Hawaii
3) Fiji
4) LA0 -
Cooke islands would be the best if you want somewhere a bit quieter in the pacific islands.0

The cook islands are pure heaven - loads to do, not many tourists and you really do get to mix with the locals.0
