OK, so we did the financial statement with assistance from Payplan, sent letters to our unsecured creditors offering a temporary payment of £1, and am now waiting for replies.
So far - First Direct have rejected the offer saying that it will go to a Debt Collection Agency who will probably accept the amount (so why not FD just accept it in the first place?). They have closed my account - fair enough, I knew they would.
I am now wondering what to do because we have a joint account with the Halifax, which is where I've changed all the direct debits to; so far so good. I also have a single account, just in my name only.
But, my hubby has a credit card with the Halifax (I don't) ( it was an Amazon one but changed to Halifax). We have offered them £1 a month, and now I am worried in case they too withdraw the bank accounts.
Looking at the budget, we could still afford to pay the credit card, (minimum payment) monthly; it's not perfect, but its achievable.
So, do I ask hubby to contact them and say the letter was sent in error? Do I keep my fingers crossed that they are sympathetic to our plight?
Thank you in advance x

Hi & welcome, with regards to 1st direct sounds like a standard response. Of Halifax are you familiar with ROSO (right of set off) which means if you miss a few payments on your credit card they may take it from your bank account. If your feel you cannot make minimum payments on this cc you should set up an alternative bank account (away from banks you owe money to prevent this). Please keep posting on anything you are not sure on.OK, so we did the financial statement with assistance from Payplan, sent letters to our unsecured creditors offering a temporary payment of £1, and am now waiting for replies.

We CAN afford to make the minimum payment on this particular card (Halifax/Amazon) so my next question is;
should my hubby contact them tomorrow and ask them to ignore the letter?
or
should we wait and see if they accept the £1 offer and risk them closing the accounts (not really what I want them to do)
Thanks0 -
