I have an annual travel policy (worldwide). I had to seek medical treatment at the hospital in Madeira (20th April 2010)whilst on a cruise as I was suffering from bronchitis. I was unable to curtail my holiday and fly back home from Madeira as there were no flights due to the volcanic ash.

The Insurance provider refuses to consider a claim as I did not go back home....simple fact is I could not and I could not stay in Madeira for an indeterminant amount of time with 2 children on my own and being unwell.

I continued on the cruise as we sailed back to Southampton(25th April).

What are my rights?
