HI im looking for some advice with these so called debt collecters past due credit solutions ,they contacted me in january due to a outstanding debt from scottish power that i had been paying off my electric metre but in june of last year my neighbours house was burnt down in an arson attack and i was made homeless and then rehomed ,never thought to contact scottish power last thing on my mind ! anyway i agreed to pay them £5 a week but told them the dates they were charging me for were wrong as i had moved out in june and were charging me up until end of august ,they told me to send them a copy of my new tenacy aggreement so they could amend it ,so i emailed it to them on email address they gave me and heard nothing so sent again still nothing even when ringing them saying hadnt got it so left it a bit and then emailed again adding if they didnt respond i would stop payments ,i rang them today and told them that i had sent them 3 emails with proof on and all i got from them was it wasnt valid ! i asked him why and if it wasnt valid then why has no one bothred to contact me ? he replied he didnt no why it wasnt valid and as i was still paying didnt contact me and he would find out why proof wasnt valid and let me no in couple of days ! i have cancelled the standing order to them now so no they will be hounding me now just dont no what to do next its stressing me out

I find emails often don't get to the right person in these types of organisations.
I would be tempted to write and ask for a full statement of your account and to enclose the tenancy agreement again. If you send by registered post you can be certain that they received it and then you can check what the outstanding balance is. You could also add in the letter that if the tenancy agreement is not sufficent to show that you had moved out what other proof would they like.
Do you have any other paperwork/proof as to when you had to move out? Such as a new council tax bill showing the date you moved into the new property. If you were homeless for a while does that mean that your tenancy agreement does not start in June on the same day you are telling them you moved out?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
im just so annoyed at them and there attitude seem happy as long as im paying but not prepaired to do there job ,there is a weeks diffrence as i was in a hotel for a week and in hospital for half of that they wouldnt offer me a reason why my tenancy agreement wasnt valid said he didnt no and would find out and contact me in a couple of days seems like just to get rid of me so they have got the emails just ignoring them by the sounds of it . this was a bad fire and my neighbour died so theres no end of people that were involved they could just check with my housing0

Hi janey70
Sorry to hear about your terrible situation. Hopefully I will be able to help with your ScottishPower situation.
The quickest way to get this matter resolved is to speak to one of our customer service staff and get the answers to your questions there and then. Like Tixy has stated, do you have any other documents regarding your move of property. If you were rehoused, was it a coucil property and did the housing association send you any details when you moved into your new address?
When you call you can ask why your emailed tenancy agreement has not been accepted and we will be able to tell you why. If you are not given an answer by the person you speak to, ask to speak to a Manager and they will tell you why.
I would recommend speaking to us as quickly as possible as you do not want the debt collection agency chasing you and a default marker registered against you if you leave it too long.
If you want me to look into this for me then let me know.
Kind Regards

thanks colin this collection agency pastdue credit is already chasing me and i have paid them £80 so far ! thats all i have been dealing with they have never gave me the option to contact yourselves over this . i cant really find anything other than my tenancy agreement as proof i get so many council tax bills through the door as i work part time and a single parent it changes so much so throw old ones away so i dont get confused . my housing association im with now are same ones who rehomed me so most of the changing over like the offer of the property was done over phone apart from when i viewed the house where a housing manager was here to meet me where i got keys and signed tenancy agreement but what i am going to do now is contact scottish power and see if they can help0

Hi janey70
The housing association will have a copy of the tenancy agreement for your new property. Call them and see if you can be given a copy of this. If you explain to them your situation I am sure they will be able to assist. If this is the same tenancy agreement that you have already sent to SP then we should have no reason not to amend your account and close it to the relevant date.
Let me know how yo get on.
Kind Regards

hi colin just a quick update for u past due credit never contacted me but scottish power did on friday telling me they had found out why my tenancy aggrement wasnt accepted ,it was because it was not on headed paper !! so i rang my housing manager who only has the same copy as me and not on headed paper ! so he has said he will email them himself and tell them the details of my move last year lets hope this works but wont hold my breath and not paying them another penny till they sort this out0

Hi janey70
Thanks for the update. When we contacted you did you make sure that there was a hold on the debt recovery action until this matter was resolved?
As soon as we are contacted by the Housing Association we should amend your account so that we are only billing you for the period you were responsible for the supplies.
Keep me posted on the outcome.
Kind Regards
