Port Aventura, Salou

We're off in a couple of days and wonder if anyone can help with the layout of the Park. We were in Florida a couple of years ago and of course looking back realised the time-consuming mistakes we made (plus not getting a fast track pass cos we waited for ages at some of the rides if we couldn't get the bog standard fast track ticket). Any tips would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

You can find the map here http://www.portaventura.es/pa/conoce.asp?pDesti=&pNivelA=2&pNivelA1=4#

I havent been round the park for about 3 years, but if you get the 3 day ticket you will have plenty of time (its only a few euros extra) Or get even better value from the 7 day tickets.

We are going in a few weeks and cant wait :j

  • I went a few years back and it really isn't that big, we managed to get round in one day and it wasn't busy either we waited a few minutes to get on the main rides we went in October though and may well have gotten bigger now!

I went this time last year but as we stayed in the hotel we had unlimited access to the theme park for the week so we'd only do a few rides a day but there were some lengthy queues after 1,2 o'clock. Also Melissa22 Mum I don't think you would have been on the free fall drop ride which has quite good and exteremely high.
  • I can't remember that one, hope it's the place I'm thinking of then :o
It is the place with that Dragon ride with eight loops isn't it?
  • Don't worry, it's nowhere near as tiring or confusing as Florida! We went last year and easily covered everything in a day, just make sure you are back at the entrance for a good view of the fireworks...
I could probably have spent another day there, but that's all.It is a very good theme park, but it's no Disneyworld!
We are going again this year but will just get a 1 day ticket.
Just realised you've probably left by now anyway!

Just back from nightmare Port Aventura!!! Don't, don't , dont go there. It was hell on earth. Hundreds & hundreds of people in queues. We got a 7days for the price of 3 through 365tickets.com and thought at £40 per ticket this was fair but this only gets you on ONE express ride per day! There are only about 4 white knuckle rides anyway, the rest are tame, so we had to wait in a queue after we'd used up our one express ticket. Average time about 1 to 1 1/2 hours and Costa Caribe (waterpark) next door is even worse!!! Spent whole day there and only managed to get on two rides! Can't understand how they can get away with cramming so many people into a park. We stayed in a Salauris Palace Hotel which was nice & only 10 mins walk from Port Aventura but Salou is a huge tacky tip where I was embarrassed to say I spoke English as most of the pubs were full of fat, drunk, football shirted yobs (men & women) who acted in a disgraceful manner at the best of times. Sorry, but if you've half a brain, please don't go to Port Aventura or Salou, save really hard, miss a year's holiday and go to Florida instead. The weather will be the only thing I'll miss (and the lovely Spanish people who have to put up with the thousands of brits trashing their lovely country)

If you want to go on the dragon khan you have to go get your ticket in advance and they will give you a timeslot when to come back. My son missed out on his ride as he went there in our final hour & we wouldn't have made it back to the bus.

We are off to Salou tomorrow but fortunately haven't bought any tickets for the above, although debating.

    Is it really that bad??

Did you find any nice places to visit and what about Barcelona?

What dates were you there from and to?

    Many thanks.

No its not that bad at all, I have been loads of times and barring America, its the only place I have retured more than once. I absolutly love it because if you know what your doing, then there is something for everyone.

If you are on the main front its maily british pubs and bars, if you go to the left its all shops and right at the top is a traditional spanish flea market that sells all gorgeous hand made things, and if you go to your right, you go to the marina and you have traditional spain, lots of little boutiques, bars ect.

My dad even liked it, and he only likde going to places where no-one speaks a word of english in the middle of no-where. I have never seen the place dirty, nor could it be described as that unless you don't know where to go.

I am sure you will have fun, as I will in 10 days time :j
