Now bankrupt, what am i allowed to earn?

Hi all gone bankrupt and had my interview with the OR and I must say what a lovely understanding lady she was.
Anyway at the minute i am unemployed and back at my parents house. The OR explained that if i get a job in the future i need to let them know and then they would work out if i have any surplus money to give back after helping with gas, electric, insurance haircuts etc etc.
I was wondering if anyone knows the rough amount of when they would start taking any money back?
I may be able to get a job but it would only be 2 days a week in a kitchen so would not be a lot at all but better than been on the dole.
Would they still take any money from me on such a low income, if they do to be honest i may be better off staying on the Dole (not what i want to do of course)
I have my children every fortnight which alone costs me £40 in petrol as its a 150 mile round trip to get them so as you can see i wont have much money left at all.
Any advice greatly appreciated

There isn't an amount to earn. If your outgoings are £300 a month and you earn £410 a month then you would pay an IPA. If you earn £3000 a month and your outgoings are £2999 a month then you would not pay one.

It's all dependent on surplus rather than actual income. For a job of 2 days a week, its unlikely that your surplus would be enough. But work it out on a SOA to see. Remember to add in what you may be able to claim (if you can).

Your surplus needs to be more than £99 a month before they take anything off you and start at 50% of the surplus. If you have a surplus of £700 a month they take 70% off you.
  • If you have a surplus of over £99 once all your household expenditure has been deducted then the OR would take a %.

The OR will allow expenses for seeing your children etc.

Good luck with the job hunting.
