WARNING Barclaycard Balance Transfers to IF.com

in Credit cards
Just received my first statement from Barclaycard, showing the balance transfer on 20 July. Unfortunatley the money hasn't been received by Intelligent Finance.
Intelligent Finance are aware of this problem, it seems that Barclaycard use the first 4 numbers of the credit card to decide where the payment goes and sent the money to Halifax. Although IF.com are a division of Halifax they use different systems. After about 6 phone calls Barclaycard are to recall the money from Halifax and hopefully send it to the right place - We'll see. ::)
For anyone else on the same boat here are some number to keep the cost of the phone calls down:
Barclaycard: 0800 9177 277
IF.COM: 0131 658 3988

I'm curious. Did Barclaycard send it to an account you hold with Halifax in error, or to no particular 'home' where you could get your hands on the money? [If it had turned up as an unexpected 'credit' in a bank account, you could have forwarded to to any other account yourself. If it had gone to a Halifax credit card, you could still have balance transferred it from there?]
Will Baclaycard now 'recompense' you (e.g. by charging you no interest until the 'successful' transfer is made)?.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
As I understand it the money was sent to an account at Halifax (I guess the one where credit card payments are sent to) I don't have any accounts with Halifax. And so it hasn't gone into an account I could get my hands on it.
Hadn't thought about the "recompense" issue since it's not really a debt. I'm just a bit of a super tart ;D, But I might just follow that one up since the balance has been sitting for an extra month at IF.COM, but Barclaycards 0% offer has a fixed ending date anyway, so it's not like they will extent it.0 -

It's only 13 days since I contacted Barclaycard about the balance transfer not arriving with if.com. and still no money has appeared!!
I'm just off the phone and was told that a fax had been sent on the 23rd (even that took them 10 days >:() to Halifax asking them to return the money. I guess now I'll just have to wait till after the bank holiday.
I took a bit of advice from Milarky's post and sent them a letter asking for some conpensation to cover the interest It's cost me , but I've had no reply to that either.0 -
Same thing happened to my wife back when she applied 6 months ago for the Mint Card. The money to IF went missing for almost 2 months.
Barclaycard were appalling, But my wife got the cost of her phone calls refunded in the end.
It's the hassle that annoyed her. No one knew what the other was doing. Try asking to speak to the same person each time helps.0 -
Here were are the 7th of September and still no money has arrived at IF.com from Barclaycard. >:( And still no reply to my letter complaining on the 12th August >:(
When I called them tonight I was told a letter was posted to me yesterday and that the money will take up to another 7 days to reach IF.com. My balance with Barclaycard is showing less than it should so It looks like they've credited my account with the Interest I would have had to pay IF.com (had it been a real debt Thanks to Milarky for that one. ;D0 -
Now 3 months on and still no balance transfer. There was a reply to my letter waiting when I came back my holidays. They've refunded the barclaycard with the BT amount plus an extra £50 for the inconvenience so at the moment I'm in credit. The letter said to call and they'd pay the balance transfer money direct to my bank account that was on the 8th October and there's no sign of any money there yet. I guess another phonecall is in order.
They did confess that they are unable to do bacs transfers to IF.com, argos store card and some bank of scotland cards, and the fact the the customer service people don't know that is a training issue that they need to look at!
Plus I seem to be getting letters from 2 areas of Barclaycard Northampton and Manchester. The Northampton lot are hopeless in their last letter they asked for confirmation of the interest charges I'd incurred (but I've already been credited with the amounts plus an extra £50) then they said they couldn't do a balance transfer to IF.com . end of story, no offer to help any other way. >:( >:( >:(0 -
Barclaycard stuffed a transfer to MBNA as well, somehow changed the 3rd set of 4 digits to something completely different so the balcon went to a non-existant account at MBNA.
That's when I also found out that MBNA's system doesn't treat a balcon transaction as a payment; my balance transfer was for £5 less than the balance by mistake - I paid the £5 but when the balcon went missing I got hit with a short payment fee. After many phone calls to Barclaycard the balcon finally went through but MBNA's system didn't recognise the transaction as a payment so I got hit with a late fee charge too.
Eventually got them all refunded (actually got 2 short fees refunded so was £25 better off in the end)Gronda Gronda0 -
We're getting somewhere now - at last!
Called the Customer relationship manager in Manchester who'd send me a letter saying they would transfer the money to my bank account. He'd not been given the details I left nearly 2 weeks ago. Gave him details again and he said he'd send a letter to me confirming the transfer. I'll just have to keep an eye on my bank account over the next few days.0 -
The end of the Saga. After just over 3 months the money has finally arrived in my bank account. ;D0
