Childcare costs?

Hi everyone, wonder if anyone can help us?

After being repossessed from our home (our choice) we have decided to go br to cover the shortfall.

Hubby works on a commission basis and some months would be over for an ipa, would we be able to up little ones childcare cost to get rid of some surplus. As I don't work currently (expecting another and a carer for disabled son) would they deem as unnecessary, Is there a limit to childcare costs?

thanks

I suppose the childcare costs depend on the ages of your children and your circumstances. If you are at home though I don't see how you could claim childcare costs.

  • Well my little one is 3 and receives the free 15 hours, we just want to up it to a few full days, to get him used to school and for when Ive had the baby. His birthday falls after the school term time, so he wont go to school this Sept but next (even though he is ready)

With a newborn and a disabled child to care for you probably won't have any problems putting in extra for your 3 year old's extra nursery hours.

  • Thanks Fiveyearplan, Just out of interest is there any guidelines anywhere on this?
We want to go br before the new baby comes, and disabled child is at school during the day.
I suppose I would rather use any surplus money go on little ones nursery than have them take it off us, sorry if that sounds bad, but will want him to go more (for him not me, as very advanced, poor thing is ready for school) when new baby comes.

I don't think there are any guidelines for nursery costs as they vary so much. You'll need to put down the true cost - use the cost for the increased hours.

generally if one of the parents is able to look after the child then childcare costs will not be allowed

  • Not sure if this will help but mine is £600 a month as I work full time - but they didn't question it.
