Get the popcorn in- woohoo!!The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -
Maybe you should read these reviews before subscribing to screenselect:
http://www.dvdrr.com/reviews/ScreenSelect.html
Apparently, they offer a very good service during the trial period, but then your dvd choices become suddenly unavailable when you start paying... and they always pretend not to receive your dvd at the end of the month to make you pay for the next month.
I had exactly this unfortunate experience with them when I tried their offer in May: on the 1st May, I applied to ScreenSelect's 30 days free trial with the intention to close it before the end of the trial (I know I shouldn't expect something for nothing, but that's their offer and I wanted to also try their competitor Blockbuster before signing any long term contract).
The terms&conditions state that the account needs to be closed before the next billing date in order to avoid any payment. The account is effectively closed when they "receive" the last DVD back. The billing date was set to the 31 May.
After 25 days, I canceled the service and sent them the last DVD back. On the 31/05, they claimed it took 5 days for the (1st class) DVD to arrive and they charged me the next month's £9.99.
After many emails and hours trying to find their customer service's phone number (which is 0808 2000 193, in case you need it), I called them, and they refused to give any refund, based on their claim of receiving the DVD on the 31st May.
They couldn't prove they really received it 5 days after I sent it, but they already took my money and wanted me to prove them wrong if I wanted a refund. It seems there was no way for me to prove that this 1st class mail didn't take 5 days to reach destination, and despite the common sense (1st class mail does not take 5 days to deliver), they wouldn't refund anything!0 -
I have an even better offer from Screenselect.
Enter the promotion codes TENQUID when you sign up and they will send you a cheque for £10 as long as you don't cancel your subscription before you receive your first DVD!0 -
Is this taken as a direct debit from your bank account? If so, cant you just send the dvd back and cancel the direct debit online/ with your bank?0

It was a direct debit, so I should probably have done that.
Anyway, after I got this problem, I found the reviews mentioned earlier and discovered I was far from being the only one. I just wanted to warn people here.0
