BR and a CCJ

I have a CCJ which is deducted by DD; I cancelled the DD as I'm now BR but wondering if I've been a wee bit premature; according to the BR pack, it can take 6 weeks for the OR to contact creditors etc. Could there be a consequence to cancelling the DD ?

One of the consequences of the BR order is that you MUST stop paying your former creditors after the BR order is made.

That applies whether there is a CCJ in place or not.

The creditor is obviously not going to be pleased, but there is nothing they can do.

It might be a good idea to write to them yourself to explain why payments have been stopped, including a copy of your BR order.

It has not been unknown for some creditors to re-instate a DD without permission, so it may well be best if they know of the BR ASAP.

Thanks fermi, you have put my mind at ease.
I was given 3 copies of the BR order; is it ok to scan and copy then send a copy to them ? I have an, er.. printer that will do that for me (hopefully)

Hi. Cancel immediately. It's no longer your responsibility. You are just throwing money away. It's a debt which is in your BR. Doesn't belong to you anymore!!! Yipee!

Yep. A 'copy' is just fine. After all, they can always check online to confirm if needed. ;)
