Natwest overpayment problems?

I just tried to make an overpayment to Natwest with a Mastercard. The payment was rejected but the card was not the problem. The operator said there was no problem with the card and there were no notes on my account but had no answers.

Has anyone else had any issues?

Cheers

Steve

I enquired with my lender as I have a cashback credit card but my lender refused to accept payment of my mortgage with a credit card and said they could not accept a payment of a debt with a debt!
Now the other problem you may find is that paying your mortgage payment or an overpayment may be taken as a cash advance and you would be charged for that big time.
This has been tried by other people before and some lenders will accept CC payment and some wont.
  • Hello, thanks for the reply :)

I rang back later and made the payment successfully. Capital One do not see this as a cash advnace and it shows on the statement as a payment (luckily for me!) done this for a couple of months but will keep an eye on it to make sure they dont change that!

    Thanks,
    Steve
