Britannia Ltd - Willesden (Used Cars)

Has anyone had any experience of this company at all!

I'm looking at buying a used 4x4 in the next few weeks and looked at their website following links from Autotrader, there were a couple that caught my eye. Their prices seem reasonable, but I've never heard of them, I'm not from the area, and wondered if anyone had dealt with them and had any experience - Good or Bad!

I've checked their prices against an online car valuer https://www. wisebuyers. co. uk and they seem about right for age/mileage etc

Any comments?

Unless you are looking for a highly specialised or rare vehicle I wouldn't travel 'out of area'. There are a number of threads on here from people who have had problems as a result.

    What are you looking at?
  • Not keen on their website. An avoid for me.

Agreed, too little information, no land line number.

Now I've looked at the website I can see they are selling 8-12 year old 4x4s in the £2k-£5k bracket.

No way would I go any distance to buy that sort of stuff.

Also. Mobile numbers only and 'View by Appointment'.:( Stay away.

Google street view doesn't inspire confidence either.

Are you looking at the Range Rovers?

I wouldn't. P38s are notoriously unreliable and expensive to fix.

Thanks for the info...was looking at the Shogun (2000-07 model)...but had considered the Range Rovers too...looking for an approx 10 yr old 4x4 +/- 2yrs, around the £4K mark again +/- £1K.

A 5 door LWB, to be able to tow approx 2800kg, but smart enough to take friends to the races etc, not particularly bothered about engine size although ideally 2.5-3.5L, either fuel, man or Auto. Ideally around 100 000 miles, but not worried by higher mileage as long as the service history is there and there are no major problems. I don't expect to do high mileage, but will expect to carry a fair bit of kit, rather than belting up and down on a daily commute, more the odd longish trip towing a horse trailer.

Have discarded LR as (generally)too basic, Toyota & Nissan as beyond my price range, Isuzu too old technology, Jeep too thirsty, BMW/Mercedes etc as toys, pretty much end up back at Shogun, although I did have my head turned by one of the RR's, which I'd previously excluded on grounds of poor reliability. Have also looked at Shogun Sports but prefer the roomier big brother.

I've looked on Autotrader and Pistonheads...done some research by Wisebuys & Honest Johns. I will most likely get an RAC/AA inspection done.....as well as the HPI check.

Any thoughts....I'm Devon based, I'm planning to move to Bristol area soon...so I'm looking nationally, but don't want to travel the length of the country unless I'm certain about the vehicle

At that sort of age and for that sort of use a Shogun is a good choice, definitely better than a Disco or a Rangey.

There are loads of them about so you shouldn't have to look far afield.
  • Any suggestions where to look..I'm overseas at the moment, returning this weekend, looking to line up some to see next week with a view to having this sorted in the first week or so I'm back??
