Any websites that advise on non poisonous plants safe for kids?

Does anyone know of any websites listing safe plants?

I am about to start planting my newly stripped garden and I have a toddler and hopefully planning another in the future and want the plants I choose to be safe for them.

Thanks in advance.

Just bring your children up knowing they must never eat anything from the garden.

This way, they will be safe when they visit family and friends and you wont have to worry.

  • that may not be so easy in practice. We grow strawberries and raspberries and my 2 year old great niece fololows my kids around picking and eating. I am now worried that she will eat the berries off the mahonia (~very poisonous) best to teach them to ask first or not tempt them with anything edible till they are old enough to understand

    That's what I meant Buxton :D

We have only just started growing edible stuff, so it wasn't ever an issue for us.

I think I have just answered my own question.

Through my searches on the web I have managed to find this which I think might be helpful to others.

Any & every plant (even parts of edible ones) is poisonous to some degree, it is just luck whether a person has a high tolerence to it. Obviously there are some which are more toxic than others, and therefore likely to cause a reaction in most people, but ALL plants must be treated as poisonous. Best either never leave a child unsupervised in the garden or fence off planting for a few years, or create a child freindly bit i.e gated patio/lawn etc.
