Does anyone own or driven a new Fiesta Econetic? I do like the look of the new fiestas but just wondering what they're really like beyond the usual marketing hype.

It would be a serious downsize for me, going from a beemer 3 series diesel.

More marketing hype by the sound of things, everything has to end in "etic " these days.

They have kinetic styling !!!!!!, whatever that is supposed to mean?:(

I've just downsized from a Ford Galaxy to a Fiesta diesel. 95% of the time, the car only has me in it and the Galaxy got to the age / mileage where it was costing a lot of money to keep it going. We do have another family sized car and decided that if we needed anything bigger with 7 seats / luggage space for holidays etc, we could rent.

The Fiesta I bought is the 1.4TDCi Zetec, so can't comment on the Econetic. Obviously for me it is a very different car size wise, but I've soon adapted to it. It is returning 60mpg (fuel computer says 62, but manual checks show 60) in a mix of town / motorway driving, rush hour traffic (ie at a standstill on the M6). The Galaxy regularly returned approx 40mpg, so it's a 50% improvement and a massive reduction in my motoring costs.

The seat is comfortable over long distances (it doesn't have lumbar support so I was a bit wary) and the general fit and finish of the car is very good. I debated the Econetic, but discounted it because air con was an optional extra at the time, as was the heated front screen, both of which I think are necessities. I also thought the seat trim on the econetic was a bit low rent & preferred the overall finish of the Zetec spec. It does miss out on a few niceties such as auto headlights and wipers, but I soon learned to live without them!

I haven't had any regrets so far, and am starting to wish made the change sooner. That probably doesn't help much, but I would certainly look at the Econetic alongside the standard trim - given the small difference in road tax and so on, do you want to be that frugal?
