I have been unemployed for over 6 months and am now on job centres new deal. i apply for as many jobs as i can on my own without the job centres help.
As i am on new deal apparently i am able to apply and be given information on FJV (future job vacancies) which i have been given a few only for my personal adviser to tell me she will arrange an interview and then ring me. I am still waiting 6 weeks on. I have been on mse over the last few days trying to get help and advise.
I had recieved an email on good friday (job centre closed) asking me to go for an interview on bank holiday monday (jobcentre closed). I have struggled to find clothes to get me to interview on bank holiday monday but managed on my own without asking jcp for help (not that i could anyway as closed) i paid for taxi to get me to interview costing me over £30 as public transport not availabe to place of work.
I have been in jcp today as i have been offered the job on the successful completion of a 2 week work trial, i have asked for help with travel costs for the first couple weeks to help me get to possible work. I was told by my so called personal adviser that it is at her discretion that she will be able to help me in costs. She told me NO. she was not prepared to give me the help as she didnt believe i could get there after the funding off job centre stopped. After 4 hours of debating over phones she agreed to help me with the cost of a bus pass getting me half way there and that was all, to put the boot in my PERSONAL ADVISER also made sure i was well informed that this is the tax payers money. Who on earth does this woman think she is she is there to help me get a job not put me down i have had a minor nervous breakdown due to this woman this sfternoon and all the strees she has caused me.
Does anyone know where i can appeal and complain about the way i have been tret. I know to some this may be a bit high drama but i am extremely upset and dont know what to do - in the way of complaining,
Oh and by the way i am not on substance misuse, from over sees or have an alcohol/gambling problem. I am one of the very few genuine unemployed job seekers.

You had my sympathy until this bit.~*~ If you don't need it, it isn't a bargain ~*~0 -
Sorry Vikki but from what you have posted elsewhere I have to agree with her.
Seriously speaking if you were offered a permenant position, given what you have posted previously, would you be able to get there?2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310
2nd Purse Challenge:
£15.88 saved to date0 -
I agree with her too.
If you had to get a taxi there today because you claim there is no public transport to the place of work how on earth are you going to get there after this partial funding has run out?
For the record,I think helping you to pay for a bus pass to get you half way there is more than reasonable considering.
I'm assuming you told them you forked out £30 for a taxi?
It's fully reasonable for them to believe that you will not be able to get there on your own (going by what you have claimed) therefore funding now to get you there for a couple of weeks could be a complete waste of funds as you may well not continue due to transport.
Regarding the amount you paid for a taxi did you travel direct from home and direct to home or go half way by bus?If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
oh dear... :-S
thing is vikki these people at the jobcentre see scroungers everyday who know how to cream the system. If you've gone on at her about the clothes for interview and complained about having to get a taxi there then she probably has thought your a scrounger too!
I'd agree with shegirl in the sense that they'd say it was a waste of money because if you were so negative about this job to the advisor she'd probably think you weren't interested and therefore unlikely to stick it out.
I know they aren't supposed to judge you but we are ALL guilty of it. Going out of your way to find work and going to sign on with a positive attitude can make all of the difference when it comes to "advisor discretion"0 -

You do think before you write anything, don't you? What would an application environment be? The working definition is: 'Where a product is used, for example, defense systems and facilities, energy facilities, aircraft, space systems, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, commercial products'. I'm not quite sure the OP is going to find himself in such an environment any time soon. Hmm...;)0 -
Which is completely relavent to the topic.Perhaps he could ride along on a spellchecker to his destination.
Well, not really, Arg. Since Dmg24 is so pedantic, I would expect it (him/her?) to exercise such standards. It really annoys me to see people like this demean others when they are no better. Such a snotty attitude to others is almost tantamount to trolling. Ironically, dmg24's post, as it stands, also applies to you, assuming you work in an 'application/work environment'.0
