HELP PLEASE-Can we claim ESA(c) after my partner's JSA contributions based has ended?

Hi all,
I'm sorry if I'm repeating the same question but I really need to know the answer to this question.
Is it possible to go straight from JSA to ESA once it's ended and still claim contributions based??
I'm asking this because my partner's JSA contributions based has ended after 6 months and it's unlikely we'll be entitled to income based JSA.
If this is possible, how easy is it to do, as he has just received his last payment and signed on last Tuesday.
And before anyone asks, he genuinely is poorly at the moment with a bad flare of ulcerative colitus and probably will be ill for the next couple of months at least, so he'll be able to get a doctors note as he is being prescribed big doses of strong pain killers at the mo.
Thank-you to anyone that could possibly give me a straight answer. x :-)

Yes he can claim ESA(C) assuming the cont conditions are satisfied in the relevant tax years. The tax years for ESA(C) in 2010 are 07/08 & 08/09, whereas the tax years used for the JSA(C) claim in 2009 would have been 06/07 & 07/08.
  • Don't let them mess you about with ESA - look up the Act on line. Get to know it. Then request a placement prior to medical.

The 13 week assessment is rubbish - you can request a group placement straight away. And don't let them kid you that it can't be back dated.

I have Breast Cancer which has spread to my lungs - I was one of the 1st people to get ESA - total nightmare. Anything I can do to stop people going through the hassle I had.

There's Contributions based & Income based. If he's worked then he should be entitled to Contributions based.

The forms are a bit of a nightmare but make sure you complete as much information as possible. it is also advisable to let his doctors know as they'll probably write to them as well.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
After redundancy last year i claimed jsa for 6 months, my contributions run out, then in jan & feb this year i had a temp job.

I hate claiming benefits and was hoping another temp thing would come along at least so i didnt go back and try to reclaim jsa.

Now ive had an accident and brocken my ankle and i been told 6weeks plus a few more weeks after to walk properly and stuff.

Well thats a long while and i dont think i can even apply for jobs with a brocken ankle, i cant drive or get about.

Is there anything i can claim, other people in my household work so i cant get any income based benefits.

As i run out of contributions last year on jsa does that mean i wont be able to get esa contribitions based anyway?

is esa not for injuries like this?
or can you claim jsa with a broken ankle??

Has anyone claimed esa recently, whats the process do you have to attend medicals and things?

i have a sicknote from a hospital covering 6 weeks.
  • I think your be fine to claim contributions based esa allan, which is paid at the same rate as jsa, as it's now the new tax year anyway, so you'd be fine to either make a new claim for job seekers allowance contributions based again for another 6 months or make a claim for esa for however long you need to and then if you wanted to, you could go on to jsa contributiions afterwards.
I'm sure all you need to make a claim for esa is a sick note/s from the doctors and obviously you have to fill in a form, and I can't see why not a broken ankle wouldn't be covered. You just need notes for however long you want to claim esa, and how I've understood it is that, I don't think you have any assessment until 13 weeks after you first made your claim.
But please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this people.

This sensationalist crap above would apply to some people who can be treated as having LCW without attending a medical but that is a minority of conditions. Usually terminal illness, illnesses that requrie certain types of treatments and contagious illnesses.

Unless its a severe case then I doubt he (Referring to the OP now) would be treated as having LCW without having first gone to the medical.

The forms are not a nightmare, they ask such searching questions as name, address and national insurance number. The initial claim asks for only the name of your illness - although some people do see the need to inform the department of their life history.
