Just wondering how LHA is worked out if someone goes self-employed. Obviously some weeks they might not make any money and some weeks they will and when they do make money it will vary.
So when telling LHA what exactly do you say you are earning? As you dont get payslips and have to wait till next tax year to see what you earned?

i should probably leave this for someone better qualified !

but.....at our LA the s/e cases are left to a couple of so called experts. of which i am not one !

i do know they send out forms for the customer to complete for the past 3 or six months then work out an average profit / income. but allsorts of things can and cannot be classed as expenses so its not at all straight forward. not the same as the taxman either.

as for the initial setting up as s/e im not sure how thats calculated, i have a case at present where someone has just given an estimated profit & have been told to use that for 3months.

one thing i do know, theres an awful lot of established businesses in our LA who never make any money at all, so theyre either not very good at it or.... hmmmm
