Thats it you go and buy the cheapest tyres for your car. Its not like they are the only things in contact with the ground, is it?

Try LASSA tyres - basically they are re-badged Bridgestones but a lot cheaper.

I have recently fitted General UHP's to my Toyota pick up, the original fitments were dire things despite being a good make, they are excellent with superb wet traction (my priority) and gripped superbly from day one.
Whatever tyres you go for do your research Tyretest being one source of user info.
