housing benefit help

how much do you earn before housing benefit will not pay any towards your rent. i have got a job which is 40 hours and 7.00 a hour. i went on entitled to and it said i would get 40 a week but when i tried to query with council she said i wouldnt qualify for any help. i am also in reciept of working tax credit and child benefit.

    Go to you local authority website and find their housing benefit section. You should find an 'entitled to' kind of calculator to enter all your details and see if you're eligible for full or part help with your rent.

    was working out weather to keep claiming when i started work. but obiously by these results it is worth doing.

    I think it's unlikely you'll get any Council Tax benefit but you might get some Housing Benefit which you then top up yourself.
