Seat Leon Tyre Size

Hi, I've got a Seat Leon Mk1 1.6 16v. When I bought the car the tyres fitted are 195/65 R15 V, upon putting in my registration on various tyre websites it tells me it should be a H speed rating.

Could someone with the same car tell me the specs of their tyres. Don't want to order the wrong type.

Thanks

Are you planning on changing all 4 tyres? TBH, there's not a great deal of difference between H and V speed ratings and having a higher one than standard is better than having a set with a lower rating, if you see what I mean.
  • If the tyres are the right size I'm not sure how much difference the 'speed rating' makes - I've never taken that into account when purchasing tyres, I just ask for the right size.

I certainly wouldn't buy four new tyres unless this was a big safety issue.

I've found that H tyres tend to be slightly more expensive as they don't seem to be so common.
V is a higher speed rating anyway and makes no difference.

Just the rear 2, had the front changed a year ago, local garage put on V rated tyres as they took the information of the existing tyres which the previous owner had fitted.

In that case, just stick to V rated tyres to match the fronts, you don't really want to mix them. Also, as the other poster mentioned they will tend to be cheaper.

    H rated = 130mph V rated = 149 mph

H rated are more than enough for a 1.6.

Sometimes you can find higher rated tyres at better prices. You can fit either to your car without any issues. What you must not do is go lower than the original rated speed, Thats actually illegal.

My tyres are W rated because they were £5 cheaper than the identical V rated tyres. Same manufacturer, Same model name, Same tread pattern.
