Council tax benefit and income support.

I am on Income Support for reasons of mental and physical health and yesterday a letter came from the Council Tax Office. It said that I wouldn't have to pay, and said the government said I need £65:45 worth of Income Support to live on. However, I do get the sick/disabled premium of £28 on top of this. This is also made up purely of Income Support as I don't have enough stamps for any contribution based benefits. (I lose a few pounds a week from my IS as I am just over the £6,000 threshold savings limit.) I'm worrying now incase I should be paying council tax because of the £28 premium on my IS?

Does the council know you get the extra premium?0

Don't worry, the premium is added to the amount the govt says you need to live on, so will not mean you need to pay CT.Gone ... or have I?0

As confirmed by prevous posters, if you receive even a penny of Income Support, you are entitled to full Council Tax benefit.
The only time it is reduced is if you have any non deps living with youI currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.
