SSP for self employed?!

Hi all

my boyfriend and I are 23 own our own house and he has his own business I work full time.

His business has only been going 1year and he has just dislocated his shoulder. The specialist has signed him off work for 4 weeks with the view that he has to have an operation and could be off work for months whilst his shoulder recovers.

As he is a builder/electrician he now cannot work. This leaves us in a bit of a situation as my wage alone doesnt cover much. He was going to the Job centre today to see if they could offer any advice but I thought I'd ask you lovely people as well any advice would be much apreciated.

Thank You

Stephy x

The S/E cannot claim SSP- SSP is paid by employers. Your partner needs to claim Employment Support Allowance from JCP.
