in Credit cards
I am 31 living in a rented council flat in a bad area i would like to move and had no idea that my post code can change my credit score by up to 100 if i lived in another part of my city but hey.
I have 15 years electoral history but it differs on equifax is shows 12 years at folks, 2yrs at my old address and 1 year at my present one. Experian and call credit are similar but experian goes back further it shows 7 years at my folks, then 18mths at one address, back to the folks for 2yrs, my old address for 2yrs and my present for a year.
Now i have 5 defaults 3 from 2007 and 2 from 2008 I know these will drop off eventually, but I was wondering how soon I can apply for credit. Some say defaulted accounts 6 years others 2 or 3 years can someone put me right?.
Lastly is it better for my credit to stay here in bosnia! until been here 3-4 years as reference agencies recommend? or for me to move to a better area now?.
PS i am self employed is it better to be employed? on less income?
Sorry for long winded post but wanna get it out!

Defaults show for 6 years and applying for credit during this time will just be a humiliating waste of time.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

jw,
You are doing the best you can. You have credit builder type cards and in the current climate very few people will offer you any more credit until those defaults are a lot older. At least 3 years for getting modest loans and 6 for them to clear off completely as you have pointed out.
If you can afford to move to a better area then why wouldn't you - but your credit rating shouldn't be your measure of happiness!
Good luck
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Think the dates on my defaults vary from Jaunary 2007 to May 2008 so in January 2011 will it still show on my payment history the default? as on experian it only shows the bank account with natwest as a default.
The equifax and call credit are totally different I have 3 at my current address 1 at a previous address and 1 on a linked address which should change as despite 3 letters to Lloyds they failed to change my address!. I called them today and the accounts with a debt collector.
Will that improve all my accounts if the defaults are on my current address?Bank Account: Abbey No Overdraft & Electron!, Lloyds TSB Premier,
