Mmmm, interesting.
I looked at my bank account today and found the following direct debit had gone out.
Payee name HOMESERV UTD UTILS
Payee reference HSS 350683070
Amount £1.00
Strange seeing as I had never even heard of them.
I have cancelled the DD and contacted Homeserve and United Utilities via email (discovered after their call centres closed for the night)
Any further advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
This was from an account I haven't been using for a while and has no credit so is now £1 in the red, so I'm bound to get charges.

Oh I intend to, I guess the main point of my op was...
I've never had ANY dealings with either Homeserve or United Utilities, so...
1. How did they get my bank account details.
2. Why did they take my money (I know it's only £1 it's not the amount it's the principal).
3. How do I stop this happening again.
4. If I do get any charges applied to my account, will I get them back?0 -
It might be a ''trial'' amount before the big hit - your account details might have been compromised or your ID taken over. Inform the bank.0
