advice on unfair credit card charge

hello all

can anyone out there offer me some advice on the following:

i paid my credit card bill in full October 2009 direct from my bank account. On the November statement the payment was shown as made. Now to March 2010 I get another statement with - payment sterling file reversal for £369.31 - what the heck is this i thought. It turns out that the payment I made in October bounced back into my bank account and only now the credit card company and myself has realised. The credit card co and my bank are refusing to accept any responsibilty for this and i haven't received any written correspondance from either in regard to this. Only problem is now the credit card co is expecting full payment!! why should i pay - its not my mistake - can anyone offer any advise please?

When you said you made the payment direct from your bank account, was that by internet banking? Have you asked your bank why it didn't go through?

If the money bounced back in October, did you not notice the extra in your bank account? Given you are issued with statements that is your "written correspondence", if indeed the transaction was shown.

So now you still owe the money. So you should pay it and I don't think you have grounds to refuse.

Your only grounds of complaint is why the transaction wasn't processed properly the first time, though it seems no harm done. You might also complain if you have been levied with charges by the credit card, though it seems you haven't.

I don't know why you have titled the thread "unfair credit card charge". They are merely asking for what you owe them.

Didn't you notice it being paid back?

If you didn't you obviously have the cash so you should pay!!!!!

If you did then why did you soend it???

Basically pay it - you spent it - it's your responsibility to pay the debt not theirs to collect it
The proof that some people really are opinionated and ignorant

You should really have noticed this. The fact that you don't keep accurate account records and keep track of ins and outs shouldn't give you £369 of free cash.
