Is there a better cashback/rewards deal than AMEX ?

I've been searching the web for deals and AMEX always seems to be the stand out deal. Though I haven't looked much at the supermarket/retailer credit cards, such as Tesco or John Lewis Partnership.

In your opinion is AMEX the best deal our there?

It seems like a strong offer currently - 5% cashback for first three months and up to 1.25% after that, beating the 1% offered by most others. Though cashback is only claimable after 12 months.

Ideas anyone?

    +1

5% still makes it the best (if you have the spend)

    1) Be aware it's more like 3.5%, bnecasue you have to spend £3K to qualify and the last £1K is at 0.5%.
    2) You need to wait a year.
    3) Don't let the card go dormant or it might be cancelled - buy something now and again.
    4) You only get cashback on £ and not on pence which can further reduce the %.
    5) Not accepted everywhere, so you need a back up.

But still the best deal IMO.

I'm on my third time around.
  • Great stuff and noted. Thanks both
