Haven upgrade through sun holidays or at the site?

Hi all wondered if any of you wise people know what is the best/cheapest way to upgrade a sun holiday with haven. Would it be best to do it directly with the park or with the Sun when you book. It will cost me £75 with the Sun. Also what level of accommodation do you get when you upgrade through the sun does anyone know?

Thanks

The first time we went to Haven and asked for an upgrade through the Sun it was more expensive than the actual holiday so we left it, only to be phoned by the site a week before the holiday asking if we wanted to upgrade for £15, which we did.
The second time, they offered £15 upgrades whilst checking - in but because there were none available on the ground floor we choose to keep with the standard accomodation and I was pleasantly surprised. Even though both visits were spent in a chalet, the standard accomodation was nicer than the previous 'upgraded' chalet, and the only thing missing was a microwave!
Perhaps we just dropped lucky but for the time we spent in the chalet, I don't think I'll upgrade if I visit this site again.
  • We went to Haven at Pwhelli last weekend and stayed in standard accommodation which was excellent. We had a microwave, brand new cooker, heating in bedrooms and even a dvd player although my sister was in the one next door but she didn't have one. The accommodation is very clean and modern and i would definitely go again. I was feeling a bit apprehensive about the accommodation but was very pleasently surprised. :j

    hi

Is this usual practice then- ie for Haven to phone and offer upgrades or to offer them on the day?

I am feeling a bit worried about not booking an upgrade when i did my sun booking....

Hi, the best bet would have been to book an upgrade at time of booking the sun holiday, works out much cheaper. I got a luxury plus caravan for an extra £2.50 per person. (£17.50 pp for a midweek break).

Failing this you can call Haven direct but it will be more expensive. From my experience even an upgrade to the next level up from basic can make a massive difference.

I've never had Haven phone me about an upgrade & i've only ever seen a site offer on the day once & that was butlins.
