Tax credits-unsure of hours

Please does anyone know how the following scenario works?!
I have just got a temporary job where the hours will be different each week-guaranteed at least 16 but may be 24 or 32 some weeks. I am going to be quite reliant on working and child tax credits to supplement this income, but can't find out how the amount due will be worked out if my hours differ week by week- I am anxious about being over paid credits and having to pay monies back at some future point
