in Credit cards
Hi
I have got enough money together to pay off my card completely but
I am sure i have read somewhere that if you pay off a card in full to close the account you maybe be able to only have tp pay a pecentage of what you owe, Is this right and how do I go about it thanks. My husband id currently un-employed so If we can cut this bill a little it would make such a difference.
Thanks
Frey

If it's still with the card company, probably not, especially if you've never missed payments.
They will only offer the big discounts when it's with a debt collection company.0 -

The simple answer is NO you can't.0 -
If you are not in arrears and haven't defaulted then unless you have very extreme circumstances (terminal illness yadda yadda yadda) then no. Think of it from their point of view, you've been paying fine up to now with no indication that that won't continue, why would they basically write part of the debt off?

Don't even bother asking, pay what you owe, save a load of interest by paying early and keep your credit score clean.
What are you waiting for - pay it now.0
