eBay Versus eBid.

How good is eBid for selling as compared to eBay?
I would like to support eBid because it is British and cheaper (isn't it?) but does it have the "punch" of eBay?

It may be cheaper but there's not many customers. So personally i think your better off paying for somewhere you can actually sell things rather than pay nothing not to sell anything0

If you want to expand why dont you create your own website?
Worked for me an not looked back since - im with EKM Powershop0 -

There is a thread here you might want to skim through:

For me it is not worth the effort of bothering with ebid, 1 sale in 5 1/2 years yet I can turn out dozens of the same items, at a higher price on ebay on a weekly basis.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think you miss the point here - eBid could be everything you want it to be you just need to support it and get the ball rolling - or do you put up with the fees you now get charged on eBay. I for one are of the mind set that I can make a difference and a stand, hence I'm all for eBid and I think from spreading the word I can only make things better for me.0

I fear though that ebid lose as much support as they gain, after all they are only a year younger than ebay.uk. Many people like me gave them everything I had, put notes on all my ebay packing slips, used my ebid details in my signature and still managed only a single sale in 5 1/2 years.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Most of us can't afford to lose the sort of maney that listing on ebid (and the lack of sales or good prices) would entail I don't like paying fees for anything but the adage you get what you pay for works here. Yes no listing fees on ebid, but also very little (if any profit) Pay fees on ebay get a huge customer exposure good profits (that cover any fees). Its a no brainer for me really
As a sole trader I can't affordto lose the money or the time to invest in something that might work. I have to go where the customers are which is ebay.
Ebid has been around only a year less than ebay. If its not managed to attract the customers or sellers now or challenge ebay yet I doubt it ever will.0 -
Ebid: Free listings but no customers, no way to create invoices or integrate simple payments (without paying for your account)
Ebay: Paid for listings with global customerbase, simple checkout process and Paypal
The only thing we ever sold on ebid went for starting price, and we never even got paid for it (but we could neg the buyer for it
). We're even still being hassled every month for the 9p we owe them as the final value fee.
The simple fact is, ebid's the poor man's ebay (literally, people go there because they want less fees). I think it says a lot that they've almost got as many posts on their forum as they've got auctions live (Forum Posts: 858,092, Members: 685,227 (I assume that's their site's complete membership, not just forum registered users), Currently 1,862,561 auctions running).
Everyone knows the story about the first thing sold on ebay was a broken laser pointer, but no-one knows what the second thing sold was. Ebid has a similar story, but no-one knows the second thing sold on ebid because it hasn't happened yet.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.
