Natwest AVU how long to I am safe ?

I have been reading some threads on the RBS / NATWEST applications Verification Unit (AVU) and how some applications can be turned down even after the account has been opened !, so I just wondering when I will be safe to assume my account is 'Okay' and can't be closed, is it when.

1) It appears on Internet Banking ?
2) When I get my card/pin and use it.
3) When I get my cheque book ?

I already have an account with NatWest and have just applied online for a Currentplus account and have signed and sent back the form (They did not ask for ID).

Thanks

I would say when you are able to make a transaction.
If both accounts show on your online banking try making a transfer of say £10 to see if it goes through.

Given that you already have an account with them I would be very surprised if they then closed your new account down.

Was able to do a transfer into it today so it looks like I am safe (Hopefully), also it is showing on internet banking and I got a text to say my Visa Debit card is on its way.

It is not a done deal until you have your new debit card in your hand and it works. I had exactly the same scenario as above, and i could transfer money too and from the new account, and the card never turned up, 6 weeks later they said it was a mistake and should have been closed. they then sent me a snotty automated letter and closed it.

The AVU are very secret squirrel, if I told you, I'd have to kill you LOL

Seriously, just phone the number on the website and they'll be able to help you.

You should have a contact telephone number on the letter that came with your account opening form. AVU dont have a direct number to call on, as I dont think we're even meant to know they exist!! LOL!

I spoke to someone yesturday at account opening. Whilst helpful she came across a bit rude / misserable.

I now know that any problems that I have had / will have with Natwest is her fault.
