Natwest AVU how long to I am safe ?

I have been reading some threads on the RBS / NATWEST applications Verification Unit (AVU) and how some applications can be turned down even after the account has been opened !, so I just wondering when I will be safe to assume my account is 'Okay' and can't be closed, is it when.
1) It appears on Internet Banking ?
2) When I get my card/pin and use it.
3) When I get my cheque book ?
I already have an account with NatWest and have just applied online for a Currentplus account and have signed and sent back the form (They did not ask for ID).
Thanks

I would say when you are able to make a transaction.
If both accounts show on your online banking try making a transfer of say £10 to see if it goes through.0 -

Given that you already have an account with them I would be very surprised if they then closed your new account down.0 -
Was able to do a transfer into it today so it looks like I am safe (Hopefully), also it is showing on internet banking and I got a text to say my Visa Debit card is on its way.0

It is not a done deal until you have your new debit card in your hand and it works. I had exactly the same scenario as above, and i could transfer money too and from the new account, and the card never turned up, 6 weeks later they said it was a mistake and should have been closed. they then sent me a snotty automated letter and closed it.0

Does anyone have a direct dial telephone number for this dept. of the bank?0

The AVU are very secret squirrel, if I told you, I'd have to kill you LOL
Seriously, just phone the number on the website and they'll be able to help you."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
You should have a contact telephone number on the letter that came with your account opening form. AVU dont have a direct number to call on, as I dont think we're even meant to know they exist!! LOL!Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

I spoke to someone yesturday at account opening. Whilst helpful she came across a bit rude / misserable.
I now know that any problems that I have had / will have with Natwest is her fault.0
