SSP what other benefits available?

Hello,
I've been off sick for 3 weeks and will get ssp paid from my employer. I will probably be off sick for another 6-8 weeks. Are there any benefits I can claim to help me to top up my income while I'm off sick and help me pay my rent (private), etc?
My wife works 32 hours a week and earns about 15K per year and we have 2 children.
Thanks for your help

Do you get housing benefit already? If not you could be entitled to some help with your rent, not it all.

Use the www.entitledto.co.uk calculator to check for benefit etitlement.

I tried but it's asking for income for Tax credit 08/09? shouldn't it be 09/10 and it also ask me to "include income from Statutory Sick Pay"?
I really don't understand what figures to add here so I did add my figures from Tax credits in that year....
And on net earnings should I add my ssp figure? Thanks

We are very near the end of 09/10 but until 10/11 starts the figures for 08/09 are required. Re-calculate after April 5th.

SSP is entered separately to earnings.

I would certainly apply for LHA (local housing allowance) the worst they can say is no.
