Childcare

Hello there
I was just wondering how you all get on with your childcare, as I am finding it a nightmare as Me n hubby work shifts are having to work it all out, we have no family to rely on, and I think I will have to go part time, as it just cannot be done.
Childminders round here or nurseries are just not flexible enough to help us as they want set days etc each wk, and we would rather do a monthly rota .
Hows it for you?? And how much pay do you end up with after payimg for your childcare??

I'm quite lucky, i am single parent - i work 2 nights a week, half 8pm to 7.30am so my mum stays at mine when i work, then i take DS to nursry the next morning at 8am to 1pm, Because i'm on a low income tax credits pay 80% of the fees so i only have to pay £12.40 per month.
As far as child minders ect have you tried the www.childcarelink.gov.uk ??
Its got lists of childminders in certain areas and has their availibility. xx
    Good luck xx

I had to go down the nursery route as there is noone locally that can look after DD.

For an over 2 year old, doing 3 days a week it costs me £510 a month. (I think just over £40 a day - this is a cheap nursery in this area).

The nursery hours are 8am to 6pm, but you can pay extra for before or after hours cover I believe.

Obviously not ideal for a monthly pattern.
