People receiving income related ESA can earn up to £72 without it affecting their benefits. From April people on contributions based ESA will also be eligible and the amount for both categories goes up to £92.
I have IT skills so did it by offering my services to a small business for min wage, which means I'm valuable so they are willing to be flexible if for example I'm having a bad day or relapse. The £72 makes a huge difference!
Thanks

What you are describing is called Permitted Work, and it's not new. On IB or ESA you can already earn £92pw for up to 52 weeks. The PW rates change on 1 Oct each year, in line with the National Minimum Wage.0

As long as you dont get a decision maker that decides to call you in for a medical, and then ATOS will crucify you and your benefits will then be stopped.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
Permitted work is £93 per week and up to 16 hours, there are other types of this coming under the permitted work umbrella but this is the one most people go for.Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0

Ah ATOS - I visited a Welfare Rights Officers forum and saw some refer to the "Robot Nurses". it really is "Computer says NO", now isn't it. Here is the address of their ESA Assessment TRAINING MANUAL [FONT="]

[/FONT]- Good point, thanks cit_k. I'm only on the assessment rate as I got just six points and appealed 9 months ago. It was held on in Feb and adjourned. However my condition (complex PTSD) is improving and I anticipate recovery.(problem is - one of the symptoms is unrealistic optimism about recovery
Another link that may be useful in trying to understand the assessment process [FONT="]from the Child Poverty Action Group site - THANKS CPAG!!
