Best buy of TV, Broadband and Telephone bundles

Not sure if this is the right place to post this as I am looking for the best deal on a bundle of tv, broadband and telephone.

Currently we are with Virgin and pay around £60 per month for
Telephone line rental £11
TV XL bandwidth £23
and Broadband L £25

The TV XL package includes a range of digital channels which I watch (eg Alibi and the Discovery channels) and Eurosport and some American Sport channel which my husband watches, but no premium channels.

My question is is there a a better value bundle out there?

We connect via cable as we live in a conservation area so satellites are a bit of a problem as they cannot go on the front of the house anywhere.

Alternatively should we unbundle and if so would we need to buy a new receiving device. My husband travels a lot and is attracted by the BT wifi dongle. We do not make much use of the Virgin phone line as it was put in for faxes and we also have a BT line, so now it is really there for backup.

Anyone care to compare or recommend the equivalent BT package if there is one? We live in greater London so access to all providers is not a problem.

You can get Virgin Media TV XL + Broadband L + Phone M for £45.99 (including line rental)... so if you're out of contract it might be worth seeing if Virgin will reduce the price you are paying.

If you're not using both phone lines the obvious money saving move would be to get rid of the BT one - the VM one will (or should) be reducing the cost of the other VM services.

Alternatively, ditch the VM phone line and VM broadband and switch to a LLU provider such as O2 or Be - which offer unlimited, up to 20Mbps broadband for around £15.

It can be even better than that but ONLY if OP is lucky enough to be on an exchange with the Be/o2 LLU service.

So Broadband L at £25/m = £300 over next year
(Not sure is that 10Mbps or 20Mbps nowadays?)

With o2 home broadband your speed WILL depend on how long/good your phoneline is (whereas Virgin broadband via its dedicated cable is set at a specific level) but o2 Premium (an upto 24Mbps down, 1.3Mbps up) service can with £backs and with £50 o2 mobile credit (worthless if you don't use it of course) be had for first YEAR for just £20-£60 net cash outlay (and then £10-£13.33/m ongoing) ie a massive saving on that ONE component of OP list there (if you have a friend with an o2 mobile you might be able to do a deal with them to use their # for the discount/credit?)


It would have to be on the BT line (and sometime later in the year o2 launch home phone - ie paying them for the rental/calls - which likely will be a bit c10% cheaper than BT).

The £backs available may vary over time of course, the £50 o2 mobile credit offer lasts to 30April - see latest net-cost computations at:
