SSP Entitlement...help please!!

I'm currently using Mummyhol's login I'm her OH. I've just been signed off for 2 weeks by my doctor I get paid £22k p/a but like everyone else obviously have bills/rent etc to pay. My question then.. Is there any help with these things when receiving SSP? Or any benefits that i can claim?

thanks

    Welcome to MSE MummyHol's OH!

Your entitlement to other benefits will depend on your household income. Does your partner work, and do you have children?

If your on SSP then the only possible means tested (Not including housing benefits) benefit you can get is Income Support. Whether you get it depends on the factors mentioned above.

Wow you'd think they would have a period of being unable to apply...say 4 weeks....

If your partner works less than 24hrs pw You can claim Income Support until you return to work or until you receive your first payment of SSP. It will then be assessed on your SSP rate and any WTC you recieve

    Call 0800 055 6688 today.

Your claim will only go from when you call.
Its important to claim even for short periods as you sickness could go on longer than expected.

MummyHol doesn't work. We've got a preschooler and another due in 2 weeks!!

Took housing benefit forms into council on friday. Don't get WTC but do get CTC.

Will call about income support today, am waiting for appointment with a counsellor so its likely i'll be signed off for a bit longer.

Thank you everyone for your replies

    Why?

    It seems totally logical.
