My automatic update failed this morning and just tried to update and get same result as you. Will hopefully sort itself by tomorrow.0

It hasn't updated for me today either. I'm starting to consider MSE (not Money Saving Expert - Microsoft Security Essentials)
My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.0 -
I manually updated my PC and a virtual machine this morning without any problems. Avira then for some reason updated itself at about 5:30pm.0
