Tesco Credit Card

I am considering applying for a Tesco credit card.

Can I transfer the balance of my exciting card, will there be a fee? I have around £2,000 to transfer. Would I earn clubcard points on the money transferred?
OR
Would it be better to pay off existing card and then open Tesco credit card

If it's the Clubcard Credit Card, a 2.0% handling fee applies during the first 4 months from account opening (which is quite low) and the interest rate is 0% for 6 months (fairly short) from account opening. You would have to be able to earn over 4.0% after tax to make this work on half a year so probably unlikely.
However, if you use it for spending you would get 0% for 12 months from account opening, so may be worth it if you put the cash you would have used to pay off the card into a high interest account and pay it all off before end of 12 month Int. Free period.

But never use it for spending AND balance transfer if the offer periods differ!!

No, you won't earn points on balance transfers.
  • How quickly can you pay the £2,000. If it is longer than the 0% period, then you need to look at other cards or you may not benefit from the move.
