Anyone applied to shop direct and they credit search you 5 times?

On 23th February 2010 I applied to Littlewoods aka Shop Direct Finance Company Ltd.
Initally they did one full search and one soft search fine, they declined me and was told send in bank statement and I would get £100 limit fine.
Then I get an alert on friday from equifax saying search so I check and low and behold they soft searched me again with a mispelt name.
Saturday I check it again as I am due to go on the electoral roll I saw yet another search done! Again with a mispelt name.
Now I sent an appeal letter with a supporting letter from local council confirming going on voters and a bank statement.
Now I rang them and they say the mail gets redirected from chelmsford and there is no way they could have actioned the letter in that time and there is no trace according to her of these other searches.
How can that be? I can see them with my own eyes. For credit scoring not a prob 1 full search, but I want to know who the devil is randomly searching me in Shop Direct?
Anyone got any advice? I know they can get them removed not the point.
